WINE BANK Newsletter-Early
Edition
Great wines – Great
prices
This Saturday the Wine
Bank welcomes Chuck Ubben and the wines of
Starry Night Winery. Starry Night released their first hand-crafted vintage in
2000. They buy only the best quality grapes from
some of the best vineyards in California. From there, they use methods that minimally impact the grapes including
gravity to move the grapes into the destemmer and fermenters. Believing excess
handling can detract from quality they employ smaller open top fermenters, hand
punch downs of the must and again use gravity (as opposed to pumps) to move the
must into the press. Everything
they do is designed to put more quality in their wine. At
Starry Night Winery the goal is to produce the finest wines possible that
accentuate the regions from where the grapes are best grown. This includes Sonoma,
Amador and Lake
Counties.
